Mr. Cohen earned his master’s degree in professional counseling from Grand Canyon University and has achieved the status of Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona. For the past five years he has assisted in the recovery of the most at-risk adults and adolescence in both correctional and clinical facilities. Included are the Arizona Department of Corrections, The Arizona Department of Juvenile Detention, and most recently Building Blocks Counseling. Mr. Cohen specializes in the treatment of substance related and addictive disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, depression, and anxiety. In addition, Mr. Cohen received training in couples and family counseling while interning at the renowned Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona and has achieved the designation of a Certified Meadow’s trained therapist. Mr. Cohen is a proponent of evidenced based cognitive therapies, and family of origin centered modalities. Also, he is a level two trained practitioner in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR, which is proven effective in the treatment of PTSD and other trauma informed mental health issues.
